vet visit
so we had our first vet visit today...
found out two important things.
one..... he's got a parasite. awwwwwwwwww. coccidiosis. in puppies it causes watery diarrhea (um, ew.), dehydration (no WONDER he drinks so much water!!), abdominal distress (haven't experienced that yet) and vomiting (or that. thank GOD)...
there's actually no "cure", per se, but instead i have to give him some meds everyday for a few weeks and it stops growth of the parasites... doesn't kill them.. stops growth.
so what does that mean?!
oh... that he'll be POOPING them out!
ewwwwww!!! poopy parasites!!!
anyway, apparently its pretty common and nothing to worry about... Biker Vet Guy stressed that its no big deal. (i think he saw fear and worry spread across my face) and that in about 2 weeks... it'll be gone.
SO CROSS YOUR FINGERS!
and toes.
and i dunno... braid your hair, just to be safe!
BUTTTTTTT.. the other thing we learned, is....
HE COULD GET UP TO 110 POUNDS FULL GROWN.
holy. friggin. moly.
are. you. kidding. me
thats like.. seriously?! not that much less than what i WEIGH.
(m'kay. its not like really close to what i weigh. i WISH. but still... i mean... its not THAT far off.)
so...
yeah.
um.
YEAH.
he weighs 13 pounds right now. so apparently he's got some growin to do!
jeez.

One of my kitties had that parasite when she arrived. It was not too big of a deal. He is such a cute puppy!!!
OMG HE IS SO ADORABLE!!! Looks a little like my doggie =) Good luck with the parasites.... sounds pretty gross... lol
Aww...the puppy poopy parasites will soon be a thing of the past. Phog had something similar when he first came home. Just give him the tlc he needs. :)
Cherry Berry had coccoidia too. . . it was awful . . . dogs get it by eating other dogs poop. Grooosss!
